Quim Castelló is a drummer, trumpet player, producer, arranger and composer from Barcelona, Spain. Born into a family of musicians, he started playing drums at the age of 6. At the age of 10 he started performing a leading role as a professional musician with his father’s orchestra.
He studied music at The Drummers Collective (NYC), Codarts (Rotterdam), CNR Perpignan (France) and ESMUC (Barcelona), where he got a degree in Jazz Performance.
During this time Quim studied with Dennis Chambers, Chris Coleman, Mark Guiliana, Peter Retzlaff, Kim Plainfield, Paco Sery, Gary Willis, Felix Pastorius, Jason Gianni, Enildo Rasua, Hans Eijkenaar, and André Mallau among others.
He has played all over the world with different artists and bands including musical theater shows like I Want U Back, Chicago or Good Bye Barcelona, tribute bands like Abba Fever Tribute (from UK), Diana Ross Tribute by Tameka Jackson and Whitney Houston Tribute by Coco Fletcher. He has toured with the Circus Arts Foundation working with many Cirque du Soleil artists.
Quim has collaborated with jazz, funk, r’n’b renowned artists like Li’nard’s Many Moods, Cheryl ¨Pepsii¨ Riley, Mike Davis, Kimberly Davis (from Chic) and Ron Grant. He has shared stage with Leonard “Asthmaflow” (bassist from The Roots), Robert Glasper or Cory Henry.
Nowadays he is living in New York City working as a drummer with the Cafe Wha House Band. He also works as a freelance musician, producer and sideman in studio’s works.
